The kingdom of silence!

On 25 October, on a sunny autumn day, the Filocalia team, together with its dedicated volunteers Natalia Luca and Elena Bortă, visited their friends from the Special School for Children with hearing disabilities in the village of Hîrbovăţ, Călăraşi. These kids wake up every morning, take breakfast, go to classes like any other children, but they are different, because they do not hear, there’s a deep silence in their world. At school, we were glad to see both the school administration and all the little ones. As always, the children actively participated in the classroom activities prepared by us. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and on children’s faces one could read only serenity, innocence, modesty …

10 years have passed since the first day of the Center and lice 10 years ago – today – an autumn day with golden leaves brought us together in the yard of the Social Center near the church, to celebrate the big event. Memories …the first teachers, the first successes, the first pupils and the first volunteers… And today we enjoy an exhibition of works of our talented children and we witness a great concert of  ”Anastasios” choir, led by the wife of the priest – Mme. “The charity part will bind us – will bind all people in a big brotherhood.” Conrad Hilton

11 years ago , at 22 September 2006, the Public Association “Filocalia” was founded. The manager of the organization – Mme. Larisa Ciobanu, comes with a congratulatory word and thanks to all the people involved in the beautiful works and the works done during these years. The very word “philocalia” from old Greek language means “love for beauty,” and all the activities carried out during these years were organized from the soul, to other souls, for the sake of love of our fellows and love for arts. We bring sincere thanks with a lot of enthusiasm to the national and international sponsors, the employees, the volunteer team, people of good faith who have made the effort and made many sad people happy. Happy Birthday FILOCALIA!!! Delivering from the heart, we make the world a better place!

First destination of the campaign “Help the bell ring for every child”

On September 8, the volunteers of “Filocalia” went to visit children from Coşniţa village, Dubăsari region, sharing school supplies. Of course children received us with big smiles on their faces, but it was more amazing when they looked curiously in their bags to see what they had been given. In addition to the school supplies, children received sweets and clothes. PO Filocalia brings sincere thanks to a man with a great soul, thanks to whom it was possible to carry out this action. Also, thanks to Munteanu family from Costesti, for the donation of clothes.

Help the bell ring for every child!

All children have the right to have access to quality education and a decent life; for a country to prosper a good educational system needs to be in place. In order to abolish discrimination between social classes, in order to start seeing people equal, we suggest destroying the walls between children of the same age. Those children have equal rights, but unfortunately unequal possibilities. Thereby, PO “Filocalia” launches the 6 edition of the Social Assistance campaign: “Help the bell ring for every child”, between the 7 August and 30 September 2017. The purpose of the campaign is to help children from unprivileged and socially vulnerable families from Moldova (small income, many children, mono-parental) to better integrate into the educational system, through collecting and distributing school supplies, backpacks and material aid.

A walk to remember to the Noul-Neamţ Monastery from Chiţcani.

On a wonderful summer morning, volunteers, teachers and beneficiaries of “Filocalia” together with parishioners of “St. Nicolae” church from Costeşti, Ialoveni gathered in front of the church planning to go on a pilgrimage to Noul-Neamţ Monastery from Chiţcani.

After over two hours of travel, in front of us appeared a beautiful bell tower with 5 levels, painted in white, contrasting in summer with the abundant greenery of the gardens and vineyards around. We were welcomed with much love by our guide, Brother Andrew. He told us about the monastic life, led us through the “Ascension of the Lord” summer church and the “Assumption of the Mother of Jesus” winter church. Later that day we visited the iconography and wood carving workshops, where we received explanations from Father Alexie. We were amazed by the old book museum and the rich library of the monastery. Our trip ended with a fraternal meal at the canteen of St. Nicholas Church. All along this visit, we felt a guiding light, warmth and peace of mind. We warmly thanked Father Paisie – abbot of the monastery, also our guide – Father Ioanichie and all the monks of this holy place for the love they gave us.
