From July 14 to 22, 2014, AO Filocalia organizes the 4th edition of the Summer Camp “Education through creativity”, which will take place at the Dacia resort, Vadu lui Voda. The objective of the project is to offer 34 children coming from unprivileged families from Calarasi, Speia, Draguseni, Costesti and Chisinau a summer camp experience, which besides relaxation will include a variety of theoretical and practical, interactive and educational activities lead by 10 professional teachers and artists. The project will be implemented with the help of young volunteers from Moldova, Germany, Poland, Spain and Bolivia.

The project is part of Educational programs organized annually by the Association and is co-financed by AO Filocalia partner, the German Organization KINDERMISSIONSWERK „Die Sternsinger“. The daily program of the Camp includes etiquette lessons, special trainings, interactive games, and art master classes, with the aim of developing communication, social and self-expression skills, teamwork, self-confidence, facilitating the social integration of the children. The 34 children beneficiaries were selected from the members of the 6 social centers managed by AO Filocalia, from different localities of Moldova, based on their creative abilities and financial state of their families.

Another major objective of the Summer Camp “Education through creativity” is to involve the young people in volunteer activities. Young volunteers AO Filocalia from Moldova and volunteers ADVIT from Germany, Poland, Spain and Bolivia will participate at the camp and work with the children, to ensure the successful implementation of planned activities. Volunteers’ involvement is meant to help them develop their leadership and mentoring skills, planning, organizational and project management abilities, communication and presentation skills and teamwork.

The Summer Camp had a great start –  all participants enjoyed the first exciting days, got to know each other and have already learnt a lot of new, interesting things.
