Any end of winter also means a start of the long-awaited spring. In this seasonal nature revitalization, “Filocalia” aims to launch on February 20th the charity campaign “Buds of hope”. The campaign’s beneficiaries are 60 elderly (solitary elderly, elderly burdened with material deprivation); 35 socially vulnerable families and 350 children from the following localities of the country:

  • Chișinău
  • Cărpineni, Hâncești
  • Costești, Ialoveni
  • Șoldănești
  • Zgurița, Drochia
  • Coșnița, Dubăsari
  • Drăgușeni, Strășeni
  • Congaz, Comrat
  • Hârbovăț, Călărași

During the spring campaign, we will cover both Martisor holiday and Holy Easter, which is why “BUDS OF HOPE” will last from 20.02 until 30.04.2019.

Traditional Romanian symbols – „Martisors” are made by children from the social center “St. Filaret the Merciful” from Costeşti village, Ialoveni region. Some of „Martisors” will be later marketed in the capital and the money shall be given to the children in the social center.

The first activity in this campaign is the action – “A Martisor makes the spring!”. It aims to offer hope and a smile to elderly from the Asylum from Soldanesti and for the beneficiaries from the village of Carpineni, Hancesti (they will receive a martisor and packs with clothes, food and hygiene products of first necessity).

We will go with volunteers to the Asylum and together with the elderly we will make handmade martisors and in Carpineni we will make them with the children from the local Boarding School and we will bring them as gifts to the socially vulnerable elderly from the village accompanied by the children.

We will also involve in spring master classes women from „Pruncul” Penitentiary from the capital. We will also bring the detainees donations (books, cloths, etc).

We want the active involvement of the community, because, in addition to the activities and master classes we organize with our volunteers, we hope to gather donations that will then be distributed according to the needs of the beneficiaries.

Between 19-23 April, PO Filocalia will also participate in the Easter Fair “Spring Easter Fair” with children’s works.

With the money collected at the Easter Fair and other donations, we plan to bring “a bud of hope” to 35 socially vulnerable families; to organize 2 charity lunches for socially vulnerable children from Draguseni village, Straseni and Cosnita village, Dubasari district. We will also invite 60 children to a theatre play in Chisinau. There will also be a trip to a monastery for children who have made works with Easter subject.

In this context, we invite all people to contribute to the remuneration of talented children and purchase Easter decorations at local Moldexpo Charity Fair. The motto of this event is: A GIFT BOUGHT – A CHILD HELPED!

PO “Filocalia” has firm conviction that there are many people with a great soul and faith in a better world. We are a nation that does not have to “bend under the burden of its kindness” but to use this kindness to channel it in the necessary direction, helping others in need.
